A Filipino man died last weekend while swimming in the sea off Bodden Town in the Cayman Islands. At 1:45 pm on Sunday, the 57-year-old Filipino, a resident in Bodden Town, was with a group on two separate vessels off the shore.

The man went sw imming and got into difficulties and was unable to return to the vessel, Cayman News Service reported. The group pulled him back on board and gave him CPR until the emergency services arrived.

The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service said police and other emergency services were dispatched to the area after receiving a report of a water-related incident. The man was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Officers from the Joint Marine Unit located the vessel which had drifted ashore some distance from the incident. According to police, this was the third death in local waters since the start of the year.
