A retired Filipino migrant worker was shot dead in front of his house in Ilocos Sur in the Philippines on January 25 in one of two shootings in the province in a week.

At 6:35 pm on January 25, 74-year-old Jose Perlas was shot dead by unidentified men. According to police, Perlas was parking his car when he was shot by the suspects, Manila Bulletin reported.

Perlas was rushed to Metro Vigan Coop Hospital in Bantay town for treatment but was declared dead on arrival. Police were investigating the case and the suspects were still at large.

In another shooting incident in Ilocos Sur, Selerino Tacsiat, 65, was shot by unidentified men on a motorcycle in Barangay Quimmarayan on Tuesday. Police said Tacsiat was with his live-in partner and the two were on their way home when he was shot twice at close range. He died on the spot.

Police said it was not known if the two incidents were related.
