A Filipino domestic worker in Kuwait has been hospitalized after sustaining serious injuries in an alleged suicide attempt.
The domestic worker, who is believed to be in her 30s, attempted to end her life by jumping out of the second floor of a domestic labor office in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, Arab Times reported.
According to preliminary investigations, the domestic worker was sent to the labor office by her employer after her contract was terminated. The labor office was making arrangements to send the Filipina to another employer when she jumped out of the building.
She was rushed to Farwaniya Hospital where she is in critical condition after sustaining fractures and internal bleeding caused by the fall.
Last November, a Filipino domestic worker allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the third floor of her employer’s home in Kuwait. In December, another Filipino domestic worker in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia threatened to kill herself if she was not allowed to return home to the Philippines.
