A 12-year-old boy died after being hit by a bus when he crossed the road in Kwun Tong, Kowloon, on Monday night. At about 8 pm, a 56-year-old KMB route 16M bus driver was going along Hip Wo Street towards Kwun Tong when his bus knocked down the 12-year-old boy who was crossing the road, Ta Kung Pao reported.
The boy was trapped under the vehicle. Firefighters arrived and rescued him from under the bus and rushed him to the United Christian Hospital. Suffering serious head injuries, the boy was pronounced dead 45 minutes later in the hospital.
A witness who was waiting for a taxi nearby said the boy was walking with a domestic worker and his six-year-old brother, Apple Daily reported. They were going to meet their parents.
However, the boy was seen running down the street and rushed to the pedestrian crossing on Hip Wo Street near Tung Yan Street. The witness yelled and tried to stop the boy, but he was hit by the bus.
