The Hong Kong Observatory has forecast cool weather for the coming week and said the temperature may drop to 12 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.

The northeast monsoon will persist over Guangdong in the next couple of days and it will be cool over the coast of Guangdong midweek, the weather forecaster said in its bulletin on Monday.

On Monday morning, most of the districts in the New Territories, including Sheung Shui, Tin Shui Wai, Tai Po and Yuen Long, recorded cool weather with temperatures of about 11 to 12 degrees, the Apple Daily reported.

Winds will be strengthening from the north on Tuesday, causing the temperature to drop to a minimum of 12 degrees on Wednesday. Thanks to an easterly airstream which is expected to affect the coastal areas, the temperature will rise gradually over the region on the weekend.

Sunny and fine weather is expected on Saturday and Sunday with the temperature rising to 22 and 23 degrees.
