Da Nang International Airport welcomed 192 passengers from the first direct Qatar Airways flight from Doha, Qatar on December 19.
Vietnam’s Department of Tourism Vice Director Nguyen Xuan Binh said Da Nang is expected to bring in 15 million tourists by 2030, and that the new direct flight will play a critical role in the city’s tourism plans, Vietnam Plus reported.
Qatar Airways flight QR0994 took off from Hamad International Airport in Qatar in the early hours of December 19 and arrived at Da Nang at 1.20pm local time.
The Qatari carrier will be offering four flights every week using a Boeing 787-8 configured to carry a total of 254 passengers.
The New York Times listed Da Nang as one of the top 52 places to visit in 2015. Da Nang is known for its coastal views, beaches and the nearby Marble Mountains. Nearly 6.6 million tourists visited the city in 2017.
