An American man was sentenced to 25 years in prison in the United States for ordering the sexual abuse of a Filipino boy and producing child pornography.
Richard Bailey, 67, pleaded guilty to production and possession of child pornography at a District Court in Bangor in June.
The admission reportedly related to abuse of a minor – a boy under 12 years of age – in February 2017, plus associated offenses.
On Thursday, a US District Court judge sentenced Bailey to 25 years in prison, the Philippine Lifestyle News reported.
Bailey was also fined US$250,000. According to the United States Attorney’s Office, Bailey communicated with adults in the Philippines in online chats and told them to engage in sexual activity with children.
The act was videotaped, photographed and disseminated over the Internet.
Agents were allegedly tipped off that Bailey was uploading footage of children being sexually abused.
Authorities later raided Bailey’s home in Gardiner, Maine and found multiple images of child pornography involving underage boys on his electronic devices.
The case was investigated as part of the US Department of Justice’s Project Child Safe, which aims to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
