The Philippine Consulate has yet to locate the Filipina domestic worker who was injured during the school bus crash in North Point on Monday, which killed four people and injured 11 others.
The 43-year-old Filipina, who reportedly arrived in Hong Kong in August, was discharged from the hospital before officers from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration could visit her, sunwebhk.com reported.
Labor Attache Jalilo dela Torre said the contact number for the woman that was on their database was no longer working.
Another Filipino man, Silvestre Velasco, went to the Philippine Overseas Labor Office on Wednesday to seek advice on filing an insurance claim after suffering an injured right arm, which was still in bandages.
Velasco, aged 50, is a family driver and has been working in Hong Kong for many years. The officer contacted him through his listed number.
Labor Attache Dela Torre advised Velasco about the claims he could pursue as a result of his injury, including employee compensation and financial aid from the Traffic Accident Victims Assistance scheme run by the Social Welfare Department.
He could also apply for Legal Aid to pursue a personal injury claim from the insurers of the school bus.
A video of the bus crash showed it beginning to roll down a street after the driver got out. The man attempted to stop the bus but was unable to prevent it rolling down toward an intersection, where it ploughed into a crowd of people.
