A 33-year-old Indian woman who worked as a foreign domestic worker in Singapore has been found guilty of four counts of sexual exploitation and one count of causing alarm to her employer’s underage son in 2016.

On November 22, 2018, the accused was sentenced to 18 months in jail by a Singapore court after a five-day trial. She had been convicted of engaging in sexual activities with the minor on four occasions and of threatening him by claiming that she had recorded an obscene video of them, the Shin Min Daily News reported.

Neither the domestic worker nor the boy could be named because of a gag order to protect the boy’s identity.

The court learned that the woman worked for the family between January 2015 and July 2016. The domestic worker sexually exploited the then 11-year-old boy between January and May 2016 on numerous occasions when the pair were left alone at home.

According to court documents, the accused started priming the boy for sexual activities by first making an obscene gesture suggesting sexual intercourse before walking away.

A few days after, the woman called the boy to the kitchen and asked him to kiss her on the lips. He complied out of curiosity.

Soon things progressed to sexual activities. On February 2, 2016, the accused took off her blouse and asked the boy to grab her breasts.

In March, the accused took off her bra and asked the boy to pinch her nipples and in May, she reportedly fondled the boy’s private parts.

One day, the accused suddenly informed the victim that she had recorded an indecent video of them, and threatened to show this clip to his parents.

Thereafter, whenever disputes arose, the worker would silence the boy by reminding him that she had the video clip, the court heard.

The case came to light on July 11, 2016, when the boy confessed to his father, who five days later called the police.

Defense lawyers counter-claimed that it was the boy who had behaved inappropriately towards their client by performing indecent acts.

They argued that the boy cooked up the story against her as he feared his own acts would be uncovered.

The woman is now out on bail while appealing against her conviction and sentence.
