A 34-year-old mother of four young children who died just before she was to have surgery for an endometriosis condition has left a lasting legacy by donating her heart and liver to two complete strangers.
Maggie Tse was diagnosed with endometriosis, a disorder that affects the female reproductive organs, after she was admitted to Hong Kong Adventist Hospital in Tsuen Wan in late October with abnormal pains. She suffered a reaction to antibiotics and fell into a coma, Sing Tao Daily reported.
Tse was transferred to Princess Margaret Hospital on November 1 and passed away shortly afterward without regaining consciousness. The corrective operation had been scheduled for the following day.
Her husband, who gave his surname as Wong, expressed his gratitude in a Facebook message to the medical staff and others who had supported the family, Oriental Daily reported. He praised his wife as a beautiful and positive woman who had fought hard until the end.
As she had liked helping other people, Wong said the family had respected her wish that her organs be donated to patients in need.
