A 15-year-old girl was sent to hospital after having her leg trapped in the platform gap at an MTR Station in Kowloon on Tuesday.

At 4pm, a girl wearing school uniform surnamed Yu said she was being pushed by someone behind her as the train arrived at Lam Tin Station, leading her to miss her step and her left leg being trapped between the train and the platform, Apple Daily reported.

According to a witness surnamed Wu, when the girl tried to stand up she found her left leg trapped in the platform gap and began screaming. Bystanders pressed the emergency button to alert MTR staff and prevent the train from moving.

A video on Facebook showed that some MTR staff and passengers tried to help her free her leg without success. Firemen arrived and took 20 minutes to free the girl.

Yu suffered injuries to her left knee and was sent to the United Christian Hospital with the help of a wheelchair.

Train services on the Kwun Tong Line were delayed for about 20 minutes.
