A 32-year-old Singaporean security guard was arrested less than six hours after breaking into a Wandervale condominium in Choa Chu Kang and molesting a 32-year-old Myanmar domestic worker on Sunday morning.

At about 5:30 am on Sunday, the elderly employer was woken by the intruder when he opened her bedroom door, the Lianhe Zaobao (Singapore) reported.

Because it was still dark, the elderly woman thought the intruder was her son and tried to go back to sleep. Then she overheard screams from the next room where her domestic worker and her grandchildren were staying.

The elderly woman was shocked to find a shirtless man standing over her Myanmar domestic worker with a pair of red scissors in his hand. He had allegedly molested her and cut and removed her shirt and pulled her pants and underwear down to her thighs.

The maid screamed for help and the elderly employer ran and woke her son, who went next door and sought help from a neighbor. The intruder then fled the scene.

Police from the Jurong Division and Special Operations Command were alerted at about 5.40 am and 50 officers were dispatched to the scene to search the neighborhood.

By 11:40 am, the intruder was found hiding in a residential car park. Officers arrested him and charged him with aggravated outrage of a woman’s modesty and voluntarily causing fear of instant hurt to the Myanmar victim.

He was later named as Jeffry Bin Ali, a security guard at the estate the woman lived at. Police investigations are continuing.
