A 24-year-old Filipina domestic worker was arrested and charged with child abuse involving a boy aged 7 in Hung Hom, Kowloon, on Wednesday.

At 8 pm, a 42-year-old local woman, the aunt of the young boy, called police after she found the boy had an injury to his thigh and suspected the domestic worker had hit the boy, Headline Daily reported.

Police arrived at an apartment on 1 Wai King Street in Hung Hom to investigate. After an initial probe, officers arrested the domestic worker on suspicion she had hit the boy.

Police classed the case as “child abuse” and the crime investigation unit of Kowloon City Police Station was following up on the case. The boy was sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for medical treatment.
