A domestic worker called the police early on Sunday to report a burglary at the Hong Kong villa where she works.

At 2am, the Filipina domestic worker, who works at a villa on Headland Road in Repulse Bay on Hong Kong Island, heard a noise outside her room, Apple Daily reported.

When she found a man trying to prise his way into a bedroom she screamed and the burglar ran away.

Police arrived and found the house had been ransacked, Ming Pao Daily reported. The officers suspected that burglars broke into the villa from a balcony. Police conducted a search in the neighboring hillside, but no arrests were made.

Meanwhile in the New Territories, police intercepted two men wandering near luxury villas in Pak Tam Chung, Sai Kung on Saturday.

At 9am, police officers saw two men who appeared suspicious near Yan Yee Road in Sai Kung. They intercepted them and checked their identities.

The two men surnamed Wei and who spoke Putonghua said they came from Guangxi Province, China and went to Sai Kung for sightseeing. However, they were unable to tell the police the exact sightseeing destinations they wanted to visit.

Officers searched their backpacks but found no tools used for burglary.

The men were arrested for loitering. Officers will look into whether the men have any links to the “Wei Clan”, a notorious gang village from the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.
