Internet giant Baidu is planning to turn a district in Shanghai city into an “advanced smart city,” The Paper reported.

The company has signed a strategic cooperation with the local government of Baoshan District in Shanghai, aiming to build the area into a smart city demonstration zone and an artificial intelligence industry highland.

Baidu will make full use of its technologies, including artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, Internet of Things, driverless vehicles, human-computer interaction, blockchain, computer hardware and software and Internet information and advertising.

Utilizing the latter, it will actively promote intelligent city life concerning the areas of transportation, education, security, medical care, environmental protection and city management.

Baidu has formed cooperation deals with more than 10 provinces and cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Changsha, Changchun, Hefei, Ningbo, Xiong’an, Qingdao and Chongqing.
