Alibaba Group’s global fresh food purchaser Yunphant has signed two major deals worth US$1.9 billion with suppliers Danish Crown and JBS Group of Brazil, The Paper reported.

Yunphant signed a memorandum with JBS worth US$1.5 billion to import beef over three years, the largest beef order ever between the two countries.

Yunphant will provide services such as processing, distribution, sales, market operation, cold chain logistics, brand marketing and big data support to help JBS sell its beef, pork, poultry, lamb and seafood to China both online and offline.

JBS will also set up a flagship store on Alibaba’s e-commerce website, which is also the world’s largest, Taobao.

The contract between Yunphant and Danish Crown has a purchase value of US$400 million over five years. It is the first time for the world’s largest pork exporter to offer Chinese consumers its packaged products.
