A worker at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila, the Philippines, has returned a pouch containing PHP120,000 (US$2,280) in cash to its South Korean owner.

Judith Mertola, an employee at Lucky Jet Travel and Tours, found the pouch containing the cash in different currencies and two personal credit cards in the arrival area of Terminal 1, the Manila Standard reported.

Mertola handed the pouch to the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), which then tried to contact the owner, a Korean national named Huwang Su Ha, who had arrived on October 31.

Airport officials decided to wait for the Korean at the airport to return the pouch when they learned he was scheduled to depart the Philippines on Monday.

He was thankful when he saw his belongings were still intact. MIAA general manager Eddie Monreal praised Mertola for her honesty.
