A Vietnamese woman threw her shoe at a congressional delegation on Saturday in protest of the government’s policies on compensation for land repossession.

Nguyen Thi Thuy Duong was at a political meeting in Ho Chi Minh City when she became angry and fired the shoe at the officials, Taiwan News reported. As a result, she was fined 750,000 dong (US$32).

According to reports, the woman was displeased over the compensation for a piece of land that was repossessed by the government. The land was previously used as a site for a public building.

Halfway through the meeting, she threw her shoe when her turn to raise motions was delayed. Guards removed her from the scene promptly, and the officials described her actions as “disrupting public order,” the reports said

According to a report from the British Broadcasting Corporation, the woman said the officials were ambiguous in their compensation efforts. Local newspapers did not cover the incident.
