Police arrested a 30-year-old Vietnamese domestic worker in Macau on Wednesday for alleged drug trafficking.

Judiciary police received a tip-off about someone selling illegal drugs in a nightclub on Avenida de Horta e Costa, Macao Daily News reported.

At 6pm on Wednesday, officers picked up the domestic worker and took her back to the unit where she lived.

Three bags of suspected methamphetamine weighing around 3.19 grams were confiscated inside her home.

The woman told the police that she bought the suspected drug for HK$500 (US$63). She refused to tell police where she obtained the drugs, claiming they were for her own personal use and denying being involved in drug trafficking.

The case has been sent to the public prosecution office.

According to Macanese law, the minimum prison term penalty for illegal drug consumption ranges from three months to one year. Drug trafficking offenders face a prison term of between five and 15 years.
