A Filipino woman and two American men were arrested in Cebu, the Philippines, after they were found living illegally with two minors.
On Monday at Barangay Sta. Lucia in Asturias, Cebu, police arrested John Herman Carder Jr., 76, Jim Dean Syfert, 52 and Frailline Mae Sagabala, 19 after it was found the trio were living with two 14-year-old Filipino girls, Sun Star reported.
The two minors reportedly told the police that the three suspects offered to give them two mobile phones, PHP500 for clothes, full scholarship grants and installation of electricity in their house if they agreed to work for them as domestic helpers.
A concerned neighbor informed the police about the two girls living with the foreigners. The police then raided the suspects’ house and found one of them wearing only underwear while facing the two girls, who were drinking hard liquor.
The two Americans will be charged with violating Republic Act (RA) 7610, or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act. Section 10(b) of RA 7610 prohibits any person to be in the company of a minor, 12 years or under or who is 10 years or more his junior in any public or private place.
