A Vietnamese woman in her thirties who allegedly attempted suicide by walking into the sea was saved after becoming trapped in mud at a beach in Perak, Malaysia.

On the afternoon of September 30, the Seri Manjung Fire and Rescue Station received a report of a woman trapped in mud off the beach of Pasir Panjang, the Sin Chew Daily (Malaysia) reported.

Arriving at the scene, officers found the Vietnamese woman buried up to her waist in heavy mud. They managed to reach her using wooden boards.

She was soon freed from the mud, and suffered no apparent injuries.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the woman was suicidal and tried to kill herself by walking into the sea. However, she became stuck in mud that was exposed by the low tide.
