A rock climber was seriously injured after falling from a crag of Lion Rock Hill in Kowloon, Hong Kong, on Tuesday afternoon. The victim, 30, and his 28-year-old friend went rock climbing on the hill in Wong Tai Sin, Kowloon, after preparing safety equipment, including helmets and ropes, for the activity, Oriental Daily reported.
At 5pm, the victim was climbing a crag of the hill but lost his balance and fell 20 meters to the rock below.
He was unable to move and his head was bleeding, along with various injuries on his body. His friend called the police.
A Government Flying Services team arrived and the man was airlifted to hospital by helicopter in a conscious state.
Lion Rock Hill, a 459-meter-high hill located between Kowloon Tong in Kowloon and Tai Wai in the New Territories, is described by climbing enthusiasts as Hong Kong’s best mountain crag, Sing Tao Daily reported.
However, two climbers have fallen to their deaths from the hill in recent times, one in 2007 and the other in 2008.
