A pregnant Vietnamese woman sought help from a police car on the Damansara-Puchong highway in Malaysia on Thursday.

At around 10:15am on October 11, a taxi carrying the 33-year-old woman stopped behind a police car at a traffic light in Sri Damansara, Selangor. The woman, who was said to be in distress, got out of the taxi and ran towards the police car, The Star reported.

Local assistant commissioner Mohammed Zani Che Din said the pregnant woman begged for help, and the officers requested an ambulance that took her Sg Buloh Hospital. When she was examined, domestic violence was suspected, as the woman’s body was covered with old and new bruises.

The police found that the Vietnamese woman, who is married to a Malaysian man, has a four-year-old son. On the morning she sought help, she had boarded the taxi in Puchong without specifying her destination.

An interpreter from the Vietnamese embassy will be brought in as the woman would not answer police questions.
