Hong Kong police arrested three people in an alleged drug den in Yuen Long, New Territories, on Thursday. Acting on a tip, officers from Yuen Long Police District suspected that a rented village house in Fuk Hing Tsuen in Wang Chau was being used as a drug-making workshop, news website HK01.com reported.
At 4am, police raided to the two-story village house and arrested two Pakistani men, both said to be asylum seekers holding temporary permits, and one woman from the Philippines who has overstayed in Hong Kong.
It was understood that one of the Pakistani man, who has a triad background, was the person responsible for making the illegal drugs.
Police confiscated a total of 12.6 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine, cocaine and ketamine with an estimated value of HK$9 million (US$1.15 million), as well as some tools and equipment for making drugs.
Police say they also found some imitation firearms and offensive weapons in the house, including airsoft guns and a few guandao, a type of Chinese pole weapon.
The three suspects were arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking and were detained for further investigation.
