A 41-year-old Filipino domestic worker was injured while she was cleaning her employer’s car in Happy Valley in Hong Kong Island on Tuesday.

At 9:18am, the worker, surnamed Midriano, was cleaning the car in a car park on Broadwood Road when another vehicle suddenly bumped into it, Sunwebhk.com reported, citing a police spokeswoman. Midriano was reportedly knocked over, but remained conscious.

She was sent to the Queen Mary hospital in Pok Fu Lam and was able to talk to her employer. The police are investigating the case but declined to say whether anyone had been arrested.

The vehicle that caused the accident was a Jaguar sport utility vehicle. After the accident, pictures posted on social media showed the victim lying on the car park floor being tended to by emergency workers.

According to Hong Kong law, car-washing outside the employer’s home is considered a part of household work.
