Two Filipina domestic workers were detained by police after getting into a fight on Monday at their employer’s flat in a luxury residential complex in Kowloon’s Yau Ma Tei district.

At 10am, police received a 999 emergency call that someone had been injured in a fight in a flat at Tower 2 at The Harbourside in Kowloon Station, the sunwebhk.com reported.

An initial investigation showed a 34-year-old domestic worker surnamed Fajardo had attacked another domestic worker surnamed Salazar, aged 48, with a bottle.

Salszar fought back by grabbing a pot of hot water and dousing her assailant with it. The two women – one scalded and the other injured – were sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.

Their employer’s family was vacationing in Thailand at the time.

Salazar was charged with wounding, while Fajardo was charged with assault causing bodily harm. Both were detained in the police station for further questioning.

Filipina neighbors of the two said Salazar and Fajardo had been quarreling for some time but they did not know why.
