A Filipino migrant worker has reportedly committed suicide in Jizan, Saudi Arabia.

According to the Philippine Consulate in Jeddah, the 40-year-old domestic worker allegedly hanged herself in her employer’s residence in Jizan Province, which is more than 600 kilometers south of Jeddah, on September 26, Manila Bulletin reported.

Edgar Badajos, Consul General of the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah, said that the domestic worker was a separated mother of two children.

Badajos said a team from the Consulate is currently gathering additional information on the circumstances surrounding her death.

The Consulate has contacted the domestic worker’s family and will be providing them assistance in repatriating her remains to the Philippines.

The report did not disclose the domestic worker’s personal details.
