A Filipino caregiver was arrested for allegedly taking unauthorized videos of the person he was taking care of in Saudi Arabia.
Wilmar Sayson, 27, uploaded a series of Facebook Live videos to his account, claiming he needed help after he was allegedly maltreated by his employer. In a video uploaded on September 25, Sayson said he was punched by his male employer after a fellow caregiver made up stories about him which got the employer angry, Sun Star reported.
Sayson claimed that he was fired by his employer without being paid his salary. In another video that was uploaded on September 26, Sayson was in a coffee shop to meet a fellow Filipino.
However, on September 29, Sayson posted his last video and said that he was arrested by the police. According to Rizza Joy Moldes, Focal Person of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) – Bacolod, taking unauthorized videos is illegal in Saudi Arabia.
“We are not yet sure of the specific charges his employer might file against him,” Moldes said.
