A video that shows a female employer apparently scolding a domestic worker because her son was given a piece of cookie in a public park in Tin Shui Wai has had about two million views on social media sites.

The five-minute clip, believed to have been taken by another domestic worker, shows the employer yelling at her employee at Tin Chung Court in the New Territories on Friday evening, Oriental Daily reported. The employer said the boy did not want to eat dinner because he was given too many snacks.

“You are the problem-maker,” she said in a high-pitched voice while pointing to the worker. The worker, holding the boy, tried to explain but the employer retorted: “Don’t tell lie”, “and you still tell lie”.

The report did not reveal the nationality of the domestic worker.

Online reaction was mostly hostile toward the employer, with many describing her as rude and suggesting she had over-reacted. Some said she should not have disciplined the worker in a public place.
