A policeman pulled his gun on a gang of South Asian men who were attacking three Indian men with knives outside the Sham Shui Po MTR station in Kowloon on Wednesday.

At about 1am, three Indian asylum seekers aged between 23 and 34 were chatting when four or five South Asian men carrying knives approached them and slashed three of the men, the Oriental Daily reported.

Police arrived at the scene while the gang were still attacking the men. After a verbal warning was ignored, one of the police officers pulled his gun out and ordered the attackers to stop. The men immediately dropped their knives, jumped in a car parked nearby and fled.

A 25-year-old man had collapsed and was lying unconscious in a pool of blood on Cheung Sha Wan Road. He suffered injuries to his hands, thighs and back. Two other men suffered arm and back injuries.

The three were sent to hospital for medical treatment. Police are investigating and trying to find a motive for the attack. No one has been arrested.
