Police and firemen began searching the waters off Hong Kong’s Lamma Island on Tuesday after receiving a report that a 24-year-old man was missing.
The missing person is a Vietnamese worker on a cargo vessel which is currently anchored north of Lamma Island, Headline Daily reported.
At 6am, employees on the cargo ship were unable to locate the man. It was understood that he was last seen late on Monday night.
They suspect that the man may have fallen into the sea during the night.
Marine police and firemen searched the surrounding waters while a helicopter from the Government Flying Service was drafted in to join the search operation.
The search continued late into Tuesday night, without success.
After an initial investigation, police rule out foul play and classify the disappearance as a “missing person” case.
