The Philippines on Sunday won the very first Miss Tourism Worldwide beauty pageant, which was held in Batam, Indonesia.

Zara Carbonell, a former model and now businesswoman, competed against 22 other contestants from across the world to win the crown of Miss Tourism Worldwide 2018, a pageant that promotes tourism and cultural exchange, Tempo reported.

Thailand was first runner-up, South Africa second runner-up, France third and Siberia fourth.

Carbonell not only bagged the crown but she also won Special Queen Ambassadress, Miss Social Media, and second Best in Talent during the competition.

The Filipino woman, who graduated in organizational communication  at De La Salle University-Manila, was second runner-up at the Miss World Philippines pageant last year.

Carbonell is expected to return to the Philippines on Saturday.
