A 52-year-old Filipino man has been jailed for 10 months in Malaysia after pleading guilty to using another person’s identity card.

The court heard that the man was intercepted at a police checkpoint on Jalan Chan Koon Cheng, Melaka, on August 16, The China Press reported.

The man had been using the other person’s identification since he moved to Melaka from Sabah.

The man’s defence lawyer made a plea for leniency, explaining that the accused, who was the main breadwinner and the father of five children, had no previous record and he had pleaded guilty to the charge.
