When police arrested a Vietnamese man for alleged shoplifting at a supermarket in Kowloon on Sunday, they learned he had also been caught on a store camera doing the same thing several days earlier.

Staff intercepted the man and a female companion in a 24-hour ParknShop on Lai Chi Kok Road in Mong Kok at about 2am after they were seen acting suspiciously, the Oriental Daily reported.

They then realised that the pair resembled two people who had been filmed earlier on a surveillance camera stealing 10 cans of Red Bull energy drinks, worth around HK$200 (US$25).

The woman managed to escape as police were being called, but the  man, who was not able to provide any proof of his identification, was  detained at a police station for further questioning.
