At least a dozen people, including two Ukrainians, died when a helicopter crashed due to “technical problems” in Afghanistan on Sunday, officials said.

The helicopter, owned by a Moldovan company, was carrying 14 people, including 11 members of the Afghan security forces, when it crashed in the northern province of Balkh, Moldovan aviation officials said.

The two Ukrainians killed were crew members, AFP reported. A third Ukrainian crew member survived the crash.

The helicopter was carrying munitions and exploded on impact, burning bodies “beyond recognition,” sources said.
