A 37-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly wounding her boyfriend with scissors, a hair dryer and scalding hot water in Happy Valley on Hong Kong Island on Thursday.

Police received a report from a 47-year-old woman that her nephew, a 31-year-old man surnamed Chan, was assaulted by his girlfriend in an apartment on Broadwood Road in Happy Valley on Tuesday night, Oriental Daily reported.

The man told his aunt that he had an argument over money with his girlfriend surnamed Mak on Tuesday. During the dispute, Mak allegedly lost her temper and attacked him with a pair of scissors and a hair dryer. She also poured scalding water over him from a hotpot.

Although the man suffered injuries to his head, ear, chest and legs, he did not report the case to the police.

When his aunt found out about his injuries in the early hours of Thursday, she called the police. Her nephew was sent to hospital for medical treatment.

Attending officers arrested Mak for alleged wounding. The Crime investigation team from Wan Chai Police Station is following up on the case.
