Three people were injured when a car plowed into a crowd on a sidewalk in Aberdeen on Hong Kong Island on Friday.
A 43-year-old woman was driving along Aberdeen Main Street near Lok Yeung Street when she lost control and plowed into a fence and sidewalk before crashing into a vegetable stall, Apple Daily reported.
A 37-year-old Indonesian maid, who was shopping at a vegetable stall, and two staff at the stall – a 19-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman – were hit by the vehicle.
Police, firemen and medical staff rushed to the scene and sent the two injured women to hospital. The Indonesian maid suffered injuries to her hand and back, while the other woman’s legs, hands and back were injured.
The man from the stall refused to go to hospital as he only suffered a small abrasion. The driver was tested for alcohol but was found to be sober. Police are investigating to see if the accident was caused by human error or a mechanical failure.
