A 36-year-old Indonesian who was high on drugs had his thumb severed with a sword during an armed robbery in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Sunday night, the China Press reported.

According to Gombak police chief Assistant Commissioner Samsor Maarof, the victim admitted to the police that at the time of the robbery, he had been high on crystal meth. This explained why, instead of running away, he resisted the sword-wielding robber.

As well as losing a thumb, the victim sustained injuries to his back, and was taken to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for treatment. A urine specimen for drug testing was also taken.

The Gombak police is reported to be looking for the armed robbery suspect, and investigation of the case is on-going under Section 394 of the Penal Code.
