A Hong Kong policewoman was injured by a drug abuser’s used syringe in Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon, on Wednesday night when she was patrolling the area.

At 7:30pm, a team of police officers were conducting an anti-crime patrol along Temple Street in Yau Ma Tei, Oriental Daily reported. The officers found a 38-year-old man and a woman apparently shooting up drugs on a staircase of a building on Temple Street.

Officers intercepted them and asked them to show their identification documents.

It was understood that the woman got emotional and threw the syringe she had used at a female officer.

The policewoman was injured on her finger, which was bleeding. She was immediately sent to Kwong Wah Hospital.

The pair of alleged drug users were subdued by other officers and detained at a police station.
