A six-month-old infant in Singapore died in hospital on Saturday afternoon after she was found unconscious by her family’s 36-year-old Filipino domestic worker.

The incident happened at an apartment on Hougang Avenue 9, home to a Singaporean couple in their thirties, their two-year-old son, six-month-old daughter, and the Filipina domestic worker, Shin Min Daily News reported.

The newspaper learned that the father and mother and their maid were at home while the baby girl was sleeping alone in the bedroom.

While she worked in the kitchen, the Filipina maid made regular checks on the sleeping infant, and was shocked to find her unresponsive at around 4pm.

The worker immediately alerted her employers, who called the police and accused the maid of negligence.

After conducting a preliminary investigation with the help of the domestic worker, the police found no reason to suspect foul play in the death of the child.
