The body of a Filipino migrant worker was found hanging in an apartment in Bahrain. The man is believed to have committed suicide.

In a statement, the Department of Foreign Affairs said a 37-year-old Filipino man was found hanging from a ceiling fan in a flat he shared with his sister in the north of Manama, Bahrain on Thursday.

The DFA did not disclose the identity of the man. According to Ambassador Alfonso A. Ver, the Philippine Embassy in Bahrain is in touch with local authorities who are investigating the case.

Ver said the man’s remains would be repatriated once medico-legal procedures have been conducted. The embassy said the family of the deceased had been contacted and they would be given assistance from the Philippine government.

According to Gulf Digital News, the Filipino is the sixth foreign worker to have committed suicide this month in Bahrain, raising the total number of cases to 22 so far this year.
