A 39-year-old Filipino domestic worker was arrested on Monday in Fo Tan in Hong Kong’s New Territories for allegedly bathing a six-month-old baby with a mixture of bleach and shower gel.

At noon, a 35-year-old woman reported to the police that she had discovered that her maid had used the mixture to bathe her six-month-old daughter in an apartment at The Morning Glory residential complex on Lok Ha Square, Oriental Daily reported.

It was understood that the mother had found red spots and swollen skin on her baby. After she checked with the domestic worker, the maid admitted that she had added bleach to the shower gel.

The domestic worker was arrested on suspicion of ill-treatment or neglect by those in charge of a child or young person.

The baby was sent to Prince of Wales Hospital for medical treatment. The crime investigation unit of the Sha Tin Police District is following up the case.
