Police are hunting for a South Asian man who allegedly raped an Indonesian woman in a car in Kowloon’s Cheung Sha Wan on Saturday. The 33-year-old victim, an asylum seeker with temporary right of abode in Hong Kong, called police to report she had been raped, Oriental Daily reported.

Officers arrived and found the woman sitting inside the car on Castle Peak Road. The suspect was nowhere to be seen. The woman was sent to Kwong Wah Hospital for a medical examination.

After an initial investigation, police said they were looking for a South Asian man who was known to the victim. Police have classified the case as a rape claim. It is being followed up by the crime investigation team from Sham Shui Po Police Station.
