Police say that a mother of two who was found dead in a sugarcane field in Murcia, Negros Occidental, had been tied around the neck with a strap from her bag and is believed to have been raped.

The body of Eden Dipino, 39, was discovered on Friday morning, ABS-CBN News reported. She had last been seen on Wednesday afternoon while on her way to Victorias City, where she worked.

Roberto Indiape, chief of the Murcia police, said Dipino had multiple cuts on her body and her pants and underwear had been removed, indicating that she had been raped. He said the injuries on her body suggested that she had fought back against her attacker.

Residents in the area have been urged to contact police if they have any information regarding the case.
