The Ministry of Manpower is investigating after a domestic worker was photographed trying to clean windows at an apartment while perched precariously on the sloping roof of a two-story building.
News website STOMP carried pictures of the woman cleaning French windows on the first-floor roof in Loyang Avenue on Monday evening. The reader who supplied the pictures, referred to as Vernon, said the maid should have been given a cleaning stick so she did not jeopardize her safety.
Responding to inquiries by The Straits Times, the Ministry of Manpower said it had learned of the incident and was investigating.
Sometimes is it very difficult too on the part of the employer. It’s not that everything they do their employer dictates them ! They might did it on their own but they did not realise their safety ! So, if you are the domestic helper ! Think first if it is or not ? Then tell your employer if is not safe ! If still she force you to do , then explain the danger of it ! As i understand once it is dangerous no employer will force you to do…just explaining
You’re wrong! Maybe you don’t know the life being a helper specially if your employer is horrible .some helpers don’t have a mouth to say no its dangerous specially if they are new here from their own country.if the employer will threat the maid to send her back or blocklist they don’t have any choice but to Follow
Mayyang Andres , will, in Malaysia once we employ a domestic helper , we have a one month trial period if you do not like the employer , you can go back to your Agency and your Agency will find a new employer for you… And as a Domestic Helper you always have to see to it that your life is not in danger.
As i know Singapore & Malaysia employers are still considered very good towards domestic helpers unlike the Middleast
Countries !
