A Filipina domestic worker pleaded not guilty at Kwun Tong Magistrates’ Court on Thursday to charges of indecent assault and threatening to hurt a nine-year-old girl under her care.

The defendant Chery C. Gano, who is in her 30s, denied one count of indecent assault, two counts of common assault, and three counts of threatening to hurt the victim, who was identified only as “X”, sunwebhk.com reported.

The court heard that the alleged assaults and threats took place in February and March of this year in Tseung Kwan O, the New Territories. No further details were disclosed.

The prosecutor said the victim, who is in primary 3, could not give evidence while she was still attending school.

The prosecutor applied to principal magistrate Bina Chainrai for the case to be transferred to the Kowloon City Court for a July 29 trial.

The magistrate agreed, and granted an extension of Gano’s bail.
