At least 14 people were killed and 60 wounded by a suicide bomber at the entrance to Kabul international airport on Sunday, AFP reported. Officials said the attack coincided with the return of exiled Afghan Vice President Abdul Rashid Dostum.
Officials, political leaders and supporters were leaving the airport after greeting the ethnic Uzbek leader and former warlord when the blast occurred.
“This is the first time I have seen a suicide attack,” one witness said. “People were collecting human flesh with their hands. What is going on in Afghanistan?”
Dostum, who had flown to the Afghan capital from Turkey, was unharmed, his spokesman said.
ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack through its official Amaq news agency, according to the SITE intelligence monitoring group.
