Sanya, the capital city of Hainan, China’s southernmost island province, has set a goal of attracting more than 300,000 talented people by 2025, providing full support for building a world-class coastal tourism city, The Paper reported.

It is part of the Hainan government’s effort to introduce one million in outstanding talent to the province by 2025, and Sanya is responsible for 300,000 of that figure.

The government has announced its intentions regarding the “Silver Elite” Plan before, but this is the first time it has provided details.

It aims to attract masters under the age of 70 and other high caliber professionals under the age of 65 in educational as well as medical institutions in developed provinces and cities across the country.

These “Silver Elites” will cover all major disciplines of primary and secondary schools, as well as Grade III Level A hospitals in Sanya, helping to promote education and medical development in the city.
