A Filipino maid working in Dubai died after returning home and having an abortion in a motel in Quiapo, Manila, on July 10. Nelia Sotelo, 32, who returned to the Philippines a few days before having the abortion, was accompanied by Catherine San Jose and checked into the Hotel 99 in Quiapo, Tempo reported.
Sotelo reportedly made an appointment with Luzviminda Tibay, 57, to have the abortion. When Tibay arrived at the motel room, Sotelo underwent the procedure.
The next day, San Jose left the hotel room to buy lunch and when she returned she found Sotelo unconscious on the bathroom floor and bleeding. Sotelo was rushed to Jose Reyes Memorial Center but was pronounced dead on arrival after suffering from septic shock due to the abortion. San Jose said the Sotelo paid PHP10,000 to Tibay for the operation.
Tibay was arrested and faces charges of intentional abortion. In the Philippines, the penalty for intentional abortion is imprisonment.

Actually, all of their stories are either negative, embarrasing and provoking. Like it was designed to bring out the worst from the readers. It’s exploiting our fascination for the gruesome. Watch out! It’s psychological marketing at work. And admittedly, yup, i do fall for it frequently.
