Two Filipino men who robbed an overseas Filipino worker were shot dead by police in Manila late on Thursday evening.

Two unidentified men approached a Filipina named Beverly Gida, an overseas worker who returned to the Philippines, in an alley and pointed a gun at her head. The two suspects then took her phone and sped away on a motorcycle, GMA News reported.

The victim was then approached by another man on a motorcycle who saw what happened and took her to a police station to report the robbery. Police were able to locate the two suspects after they passed through a checkpoint.

The suspects did not stop at the checkpoint and allegedly shot at the officers. Police chased after the two men and shot back, allegedly killing the two suspects.

Police recovered a gun and the victim’s phone from the suspects. The robbery was captured on a CCTV camera, along with footage of the robbers fleeing.

Later, Police Senior Inspector Sonny Reyes advised people to surrender their belongings if they face an armed robbery, instead of fighting back or resisting. Reyes said it was not worth the risk of being shot or killed by robbers.
